Creators, one minute you’re filming your intro. The next, you’re holding a mic out for somebody else. Elgato’s Wave Go is built around that switch.

Released October 13, 2026, the $99.99 wireless system uses a small clip-on transmitter that also docks inside an included Smart Handle for handheld interviews. Elgato’s October 20 overview and October 21 setup guide explain how the same kit moves between both jobs.

The USB-C receiver connects to compatible phones, tablets, PCs and Macs. Elgato says EQ Shift automatically changes the sound profile when the transmitter moves between clip-on and handheld use. Automatic gain, noise reduction and other processing run on the hardware.

Those are manufacturer features, not results from our own testing. Elgato rates the transmitter for up to eight hours per charge, with the Smart Handle providing additional recharges.

Here’s the detail interview creators should catch: an optional second transmitter costs $29.99, but both voices are mixed into one mono track. You don’t get separate tracks to independently rescue one speaker’s level later.

There’s also a compatibility boundary. The system supports USB-C devices, not Lightning iPhones, and does not connect directly to mirrorless, DSLR or cinema cameras.

A kit that goes from hands-free intro to handheld interview could simplify event coverage. But convenience only pays off if the voice stays clear in the places creators actually work—busy conventions, loud rooms and windy outdoor locations. But the compact design is definitely right up my ally

Would you trade separate audio tracks for a simpler $99.99 interview kit, or is independent control over each speaker essential?
