Saros Hits Zenith—and This Update Is Bigger Than a Balance Patch

Saros just received the kind of update that can bring back veterans while opening the door for players who thought the original challenge looked a little too intense.

Housemarque released the free Zenith update for every Saros owner on October 19, 2026. The headline additions include New Game+, a boss-rush mode, gameplay modifiers, new trophies and expanded accessibility options.

The new Slow Game Speed setting is especially interesting. Instead of removing enemy projectiles, it gives players additional reaction time while preserving the game’s bullet-ballet combat. It can run automatically during fights or be toggled manually.

Auto-fire is another smart addition. Weapons can fire automatically while aiming at an enemy, reducing the need to hold a button continuously. Perfect reloads still require proper timing, so the feature lowers a physical barrier without completely removing skill expression.

Veterans get plenty to chase too. Zenith adds Eclipse Layers, Saros’ version of New Game+, with increasingly demanding rule sets. There are 10 new Protection Modifiers, 10 new Trial Modifiers and 25 Trials available for customized challenge combinations.

Then there’s Overlord Rush, a leaderboard-enabled boss mode. Two shorter sets contain three bosses each, while the Totality set throws all eight Overlords into one continuous gauntlet. Online leaderboards can even be filtered by weapon.

This is how you expand a difficult game without disrespecting either side of the audience. New players get meaningful control over the experience, while veterans receive tougher challenges and new bragging rights.

Are these accessibility additions enough to make you try Saros—or are you heading straight into Totality?
